To power the kitchen of the future, Electrolux has partnered with the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) to create a concept hydrogen gas cooktop for a premium cooking experience.
The Electrolux concept 90cm UltimateTaste 900 Hydrogen Gas Cooktop* is the future of cooking, delivering the reliability and heat of a gas cooktop, without the environmental impact of traditional electricity or gas-powered appliances.
The cooktop has been developed for the AGIG’s demo home, HyHome in Victoria, where the appliances, heating and hot water are all powered by hydrogen gas.
HyHome is a concept home designed to showcase the future of energy living by using alternative, clean energy sources such as hydrogen gas, due to its ability to produce zero greenhouse gas emissions when burned.

Why Hydrogen Gas:
- Hydrogen can be used the same way as natural gas for heat, hot water and appliances. It’s colourless, odourless, non-toxic and an excellent carrier of energy.
- It can be produced with zero carbon emissions which means no additional carbon emissions are released to the atmosphere simply by living as you already do each day.
- Green hydrogen, in particular, is considered a fuel of the future as it has a low impact on the environment and can be stored in large volumes within the current gas network for when its required – just like a battery for the whole country.
