Electrolux Group Works with J.B. Hunt to Electrify California Fleet

First Three Electric Semi Trucks Now Rolling

Charlotte, NC, August 21, 2024 – In Electrolux Group’s latest sustainability win, the company has collaborated with industry leader J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. to put into service three electric semi trucks at Electrolux Group’s Ontario, California Regional Distribution Center (RDC) to lower its ground transport emissions and invest in sustainable infrastructure to transport and deliver finished goods to customers and consumers in the southern California area.

The Freightliner eCascadia all electric, zero emissions vehicles were put into service last month, making Ontario the Electrolux Group’s first distribution center to integrate electric vehicles into their ground transportation operations. The electric trucks are part of a Dedicated Contract Services® fleet of customer delivery vehicles owned and operated by J.B. Hunt.

“This isn’t just a victory for our company,” said Luiz Lima, Vice President of Supply Chain for Electrolux Group North America. “It’s a victory for the environment and the public good. This effort brings us one step closer to our ambitious science based climate targets of reducing operational emissions by the year 2030.”

Southern California Edison completed the electric charging infrastructure at no cost to Electrolux Group as part of Southern California Edison’s Charge Ready Transport Program.

“This is a significant milestone in our transition to greener operations,” added Lima. “The addition of electric semi trucks will help us achieve a significant reduction in our land transport CO2 emissions with our J.B. Hunt dedicated fleet. Clearly, electrification is a key driver of our overall objective to achieve net-zero emissions throughout our value chain by 2050.”

Electrolux Group is a global leader in sustainable operations and continues to increase its fleet participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-led SmartWay, a program that helps companies advance supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking and improving freight transportation efficiency.
