The Electrolux Green Range of vacuums has received a Silver Pentaward 2017 for its eco-friendly packaging.
The Electrolux Green Range consists of eight vacuum cleaners made out of 55–70% recycled plastic. To emphasize the sustainable focus of the products, the packaging is made from 88% recycled cardboard.
Sustainability was further improved by switching from an oil-based four-color print to a watercolor ink, only printed in two colors on the packaging. Changing ink usage and printing on cardboard reduced the C02 footprint by 12%.
Pernilla Johansson, Head of Design for Home Care & SDA, says, “This award is in recognition to the diligent, persistent and collaborative effort of the team, championing the holistic approach of our Green Range.”
This is just one example of how Electrolux is aiming to reduce the environmental footprint of its packaging by using more bio-based and recycled materials.
