Electrolux Food Foundation makes World Food Day history

The Electrolux Food Foundation and Electrolux Group united with volunteer support to honor World Food Day by educating over 13,000 children in 28 countries about sustainable food.

The largest global volunteer Food Heroes initiative ever surpassed the Foundation’s ambitious goal of educating 10,000 children for World Food Day by 3,000.  To make this possible, every employee across Electrolux Group was invited to volunteer to host Food Heroes workshops about sustainable eating across our offices, factories and external venues such as schools and non-governmental organizations.

Though the initiative was ambitious, the volunteer project was a way to spread awareness about food sustainability and its impact on our health, our planet and our children.

“I’m proud to say for this World Food Day, we not only reached our goal but surpassed it – educating over 13,000 children globally. This is thanks to the dedication of hundreds of Electrolux Group employees who brought the Food Heroes workshops to life. Their passion and commitment have made a real difference in helping young minds understand the power of food to build a more sustainable future," says Cosimo Scarano, Head of the Electrolux Food Foundation.

World Food Day is celebrated each year around the world on October 16 in honor of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945.
