ÖKOkombi Plus, the world's first heat pump washer-dryer is a true sustainability champion and confirms Electrolux as a breakthrough innovator
Recognizing success is an important part of encouraging sustainable innovation and hard work, which is why Electrolux held a celebration dinner for its Sustainability Award finalists in February 2015. The Electrolux Sustainability Awards promote achievements that reinforce our position as sector sustainability leader and show how sustainability brings tangible value to shareholders, customers, consumers and employees.
After a rigorous selection process the two finalists—Vallenoncello Factory for its Green Spirit operational efficiency, and the AEG ÖKOKombi Plus Heat Pump Washer & Dryer—went head-to-head. In the end, ÖKOKombi Plus took the honors.

Together, its superior performance, efficiency and role in growing the market for sustainable products swung the judges’ decision.

The washer-dryer category traditionally suffers from higher energy and water consumption than standard washing machines, which limits sales and product acceptance by consumers who often consider this a compromise. But the innovative use of heat pump technology frees ÖKOKombi Plus to shed the stereotype and appeal to more consumers by reducing environmental impact and improving clothes care.
